Rocky Broad River
The Rocky Broad is a warmer river with lower elevation levels at 1048 feet. The river runs into Lake Lure and provides anglers with big fish of all species. The Rocky Broad is located in Henderson and Rutherford Counties, a short drive from Asheville. A nature scenery and big pools with fast shoots provide the trout with plenty of hiding spots and ample oxygen. The name derived from the amount of large boulders that are present on the banks of the river.
Water levels are determined largely from the amount of rain that hits the watershed above the river, which is between Fairview and Black Mountain. With many branches and small creeks feeding the river, the Rocky Broad can take swift turns when rain is present for only a couple days.
The Rocky Broad is known for its stocked trout in the upper sections near Bat Cave. The lower sections provide great smallmouth fishing and even largemouth bass fishing in the mouth of the river, that is closest to the lake. Trout species that can be found include rainbow, brown, and brook trout!
With many riverside restaurants and great scenery the Rocky Broad River is a fun place to catch trout and relax while on your vacation in Asheville, NC.
